Maldives lost its match to Philippines, in the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, on Thursday.
The Maldivian national football lost the home game, held at the Galolhu National Stadium، with a 2-1 score.
The Philippines team won a penalty at the 31st minute, and had multiple opportunities to scores. However, the match went into halftime without any goals.
Iain Ramsay scored the first goal for the team, at the 52nd minute, while John-Patrick increased the lead with a second goal at the 68th minute.
Maldives scored its only goal towards the end of the game, with a goal from Naiz Hassan.
Maldives in Group A, with China, Guam, Syria and Philippines.
Syria is currently leading the group with nine points, while China is in second place with seven points. Following its win against Maldives on Thursday, Philippines now has seven points as well, while Maldives and Guam have three and zero points respectively.
Maldives won against Guam with a 1-0 score, but had lost to Syria (2-1) as well as its home game against China with a 5-0 score.
The national team’s next match in the tournament is also a home game, on November 19, while the rest of the matches are scheduled for next year.
