Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has said the swell waves are expected throughout the country on Sunday as well.

The office’s weather forecast predicts scattered showers and thunderstorms over the country, with heavy showers expected in northern and central atolls.

Noting that strong winds and rough seas are expected, MET Office advised all, especially sea travelers, ‘to be extra vigilant and take all necessary precautions’. Seas are expected to be ‘generally’ rough in the northern and central atolls and in rough in the south during showers. Winds are expected to gust 50 miles per hour during showers.

While the MET Office warned of swell waves during high tide times, it highlighted that the timings in which they are most likely to occur. Swell waves are expected to hit the northern atolls at around 10:17pm, central atolls at around 11:47pm and southern atolls at around 12:37 am.
