Former Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is not leading an Islamic administration, but rather a highly secular one.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fashaairu" program, the former Chief Justice stated that President Muizzu is pursuing a vision of secular governance. He further noted that holding nominal meetings in various neighborhoods is insufficient, emphasizing that President Muizzu must gain a genuine understanding of the actual conditions and hardships faced by the citizens.
Dr. Didi stated that the public is currently enduring immense hardships. He remarked that President Muizzu remains detached from the reality of the people's struggles as he commutes daily between his office and residence in a Mercedes-Benz. Consequently, Dr. Didi emphasized that the President must engage directly with the citizens to truly understand and experience the difficult conditions they are facing.
Speaking on the Ras Male' project, the former Chief Justice stated that it is an initiative the Maldivian public is openly opposing. He further noted that the reason for this opposition is that the agreement for the project was formulated in violation of the Constitution.
In his remarks, the Chief Justice also emphasized that the government must ensure full transparency in its execution of the Ras Male' project.
