Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that all 10 crew members of the boat that sank after catching fire on Tuesday, “are doing well.”

According to Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC), all 10 crew members of Marco Polo 2 were rescued by “Spear 10” at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday.

Speaking to RaajjeMV on Thursday, MNDF’s acting media officer, Captain Ibrahim Azim informed that there were 10 crew members onboard the boat, and that they are doing well.

We are working to transfer them to Malé City, and are expected to arrive in Malé by Thursday evening,” Azim said.

He said that an MNDF Coastguard boat picked up the 10 crew members early Thursday morning.

Citing its owner E-Fish Maldives Private Limited, MNDF said that nine Indonesians and one local were onboard Marco Polo 2, at the time of the incident. The boat had sunk 323 miles off the coast of Gaa Dhaalu Thinadhoo, 43 miles out of Maldivian waters.
