A serious accident occurred when a Male’ Taxi Line car veered onto the pavement and crashed into a utility pole.
Police reported on Sunday that a car crashed into a lamp post on the pavement of Bagheecha Hingun in Hulhumale'. The incident was reported at approximately 4:33 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Police stated that the driver involved in the accident, a 28-year-old Maldivian man, sustained various injuries; however, none are reported to be serious.
Furthermore, police stated that the car driver's license has been suspended in connection with the accident, and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Photos circulating on social media show that the car sustained extensive damage. The front end of the vehicle was completely crushed and mangled after crashing into a utility pole.
The number of road accidents in Male' City has increased significantly in recent times. These dangerous incidents have recently resulted in several fatalities.
