MPL employees summoned to meeting and ordered to sign with PNC

Employees of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) were summoned to a meeting where they were reportedly instructed to sign membership forms for the People's National Congress (PNC).
A reliable source has informed RaajjeMV that Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) summoned all Maldivian staff working in its cargo department to a meeting at a venue called "Bandharu Maalan" on September 13.
According to information received by RaajjeMV, employees were summoned to the meeting and instructed to sign up for the PNC, with senior officials present at the scene already prepared with membership forms.
When RaajjeTV’s "Fashaairu" program contacted Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) to clarify reports that a meeting was held at the port premises to instruct staff to join the People's National Congress (PNC), the call was initially placed on hold. After a lengthy wait, the respondent stated that the company’s Information Officer was unavailable and requested a callback later. Furthermore, when asked to confirm if a location named "Bandharu Maalam" exists within MPL, the respondent maintained that such information could only be provided by the Information Officer.

Furthermore, a significant number of employees from various other state-owned enterprises are expressing concern, alleging that they are being pressured to join the main ruling party, the People's National Congress (PNC).
In this regard, during a phone call to STELCO on RaajjeTV’s "Fashaairu" program, it was revealed that employees are being coerced into joining the People's National Congress (PNC).
As the People’s National Congress (PNC) nears a membership milestone of 80,000, a growing number of citizens are alleging that the party is recruiting members by threatening the job security of employees at state-owned enterprises.
