Concerns have been raised following reports that cleaning staff employed at the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) head office are being dispatched to K. Thilafushi to perform cooking duties.
RaajjeMV has received reports that cleaning staff have recently been forced to travel to Thilafushi to perform cooking duties. Sources indicate that these employees are being compelled to undertake these tasks against their will. Furthermore, it is reported that staff members who refuse to comply have been threatened with dismissal, with management allegedly warning that such refusals would be treated as negligence of duty.
The employees have expressed significant grievances, stating that they are being forced to perform cooking duties despite not being hired for such roles. They noted that being tasked with these responsibilities, while originally employed as office cleaners, has caused them considerable hardship.
Furthermore, reports indicate that authorities have identified the individual who leaked information regarding this matter to the media, subsequently threatening them with dismissal and disciplinary action.
When contacted by the "Fashaairu" program on Sunday morning to clarify the procedures governing this matter, a media official from Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) stated that the information would be shared once it had been verified.
