Newly appointed Ambassador of Austria to Maldives presents credentials to the President

During the meeting, the two leaders held extensive discussions on enhancing cooperation across several key sectors, including tourism, fisheries, climate change, and education.

The non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr Robert Zischg, presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday. The ceremony took place on Thursday morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador arrived at the ceremony with full state honors, escorted by a ceremonial military procession from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and accompanied by traditional drumming and fanfare under the royal umbrella.
The President accepted the credentials of the Austrian Ambassador and welcomed him to the Maldives.
Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador engaged in discussions regarding key areas of mutual interest between the two nations. The dialogue focused on strengthening cooperation in tourism, collaborating within the international arena, and addressing climate change. Furthermore, they discussed enhancing ties in the fisheries sector and providing scholarship opportunities for diplomatic training.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Austria were established on March 1, 1978.
