Newly appointed Ambassador of Laos to Maldives presents credentials to the President

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, noting that formal diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Laos were first established in 2012.

Vithaya Xayavong, the newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Republic of Maldives, presented her credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday. The ceremony took place on Thursday morning at the President’s Office.
The Ambassador of Laos arrived at the ceremony with full state honors, escorted by a military procession from the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF). The arrival featured traditional ceremonial umbrellas and was accompanied by the MNDF brass band and a guard of honor.
The President accepted her credentials and formally welcomed her to the position.
Following the credentials ceremony, the President and the Ambassador discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest and expressed their commitment to identifying further opportunities for bilateral collaboration.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Laos were established on February 10, 2012.
