The High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday. The ceremony took place on Thursday morning at the President's Office.
The High Commissioner arrived at the ceremony with full official honors, escorted by a ceremonial procession of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF). The arrival was marked by traditional drumming and trumpet fanfares, with the envoy walking under the royal ceremonial umbrella.
The President has formally welcomed the newly appointed High Commissioner of Ghana to the Maldives, following the presentation of his Letters of Credence.
Following the ceremony, the President and the High Commissioner of Ghana engaged in discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across key areas of mutual interest. These areas include trade, tourism, and various sectors of technical expertise. During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together on initiatives of mutual benefit and pledged to further enhance collaboration within regional and international arenas.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Ghana were established on August 10, 1989.
