Pledge to Build a Synthetic Track in Kulhudhuffushi, Turned Out to Be an Election Gimmick!

The Kulhudhuffushi City Council has expressed deep concern over the delays in fulfilling President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to develop a synthetic track at the Kulhudhuffushi Stadium.
In an interview with RaajjeTV, the Council revealed that despite the government providing multiple dates for the completion of the project, physical work is yet to commence.
According to the Council, Kulhudhuffushi has a long-standing history of producing national-level athletes, a fact that remains evident even today. Highlighting this, the Council noted that the development of a synthetic track is a major aspiration of the residents to further advance the city's sporting sector.
The Council had raised these same concerns with the previous administration as well. At the time, the government decided to execute the project under the Indian Line of Credit (LOC) facility. The Council stated that the current administration also decided to proceed with the project through the same arrangement upon assuming office.
Most recently, ahead of the local council elections, a survey team was dispatched in what was described as an "election gimmick." At the time, the government announced that preparations were complete and that work would begin within two days.
However, the Council reported that no progress has been made since the election, and none of the activities initiated under the survey have moved forward. Currently, citizens remain in the dark regarding the status of the project, and the Council noted that even their efforts to seek clarification from the government have been unsuccessful.
The Council further highlighted that other sports-related projects in the city are facing a similar fate. Despite the government's pledges to complete these initiatives, the ongoing delays have caused significant frustration among the residents and the City Council.
