Government's most significant project is providing employment to individuals who post on X in support of Pres. Muizzu: Hussain
Former Member of Parliament for Central Fuvahmulah, Hussain Mohamed Didi, has criticized the government for its failure to boost revenue while engaging in wasteful spending that negatively impacts the economy. He highlighted that significant expenditures on projects such as drone acquisitions and the Fushidhiggaru Lagoon reclamation have intensified pressure on the US dollar, leading to rising inflation that burdens the general public.

The current administration's most significant project is the distribution of jobs to individuals who post on 'X' in support of President Muizzu, stated Hussain Mohamed Didi, the former Member of Parliament for the Central Fuvahmulah constituency.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "TV Talk" program, Hussain stated that the current administration has failed to take any meaningful action to increase state revenue, noting instead that public funds are being wasted.
He stated that initiatives such as the acquisition of drones and the reclamation of Fushidhiggaru Lagoon are wasteful expenditures that further exacerbate the pressure on the US dollar. He further noted that spending driven by a desire to create headlines and maintain the appearance of progress on government projects has led to a rise in the exchange rate and inflation, the burden of which is ultimately borne by the general public.
The expenditure on drones, combined with the reclamation of a massive lagoon in this area—which is reportedly costing an additional $150 million—are among the primary factors contributing to the current pressure on the US dollar.Former Member of Parliament for the Central Fuvahmulah constituency, Hussain Mohamed Didi.
Hussain stated that no developmental work is being carried out in the islands, claiming that the administration's primary project is providing employment to those who post supportive messages for President Muizzu on 'X'. He further noted that the budget is being depleted through wasteful spending by creating jobs for those who praise the government.
This administration is failing to undertake any essential infrastructure projects or necessary development initiatives for our islands. Instead, their sole focus is on recurrent expenditure, specifically creating jobs for those who praise the President on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.Hussain Mohamed Didi, the former Member of Parliament for the Central Fuvahmulah constituency.
Furthermore, Hussain alleged that the government is not funding any initiatives through the state budget, claiming that the few ongoing projects are being financed by the Bank of Maldives.
