Bangladesh Foreign Minister to undertake official visit to the Maldives
During his visit, the President-elect of the United Nations General Assembly will hold discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with the Maldives and enhancing cooperation on the international stage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has announced that Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman is scheduled to undertake an official visit to the Maldives.
According to the Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry on Thursday, the visit to the Philippines and the Maldives is part of a series of high-level engagements ahead of his assumption of the Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly.
Citing a ministry official, several local media outlets have reported that Khalilur Rahman is scheduled to travel to Manila, Philippines, on July 23 to attend the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum. Following this engagement, he is slated to pay an official visit to the Maldives.
Khalilur Rahman was elected President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly during the election held on June 2. He secured the position with 99 votes, defeating the candidate from Cyprus, Andreas S. Kakouris.
The primary focus of this visit to the Maldives will be to hold discussions on further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation on regional issues within the United Nations and other international forums.
The Foreign Minister's visit comes at a time when Bangladesh is actively working to strengthen its diplomatic influence within the Indo-Pacific region and expand its role in global governance through its presidency of the UN General Assembly.
