Former President Mohamed Nasheed, who was recently elected as the Chairperson of the MDP, has announced that he will launch direct action to protest the injustices being carried out by the current administration.
Speaking at a celebratory event following the conclusion of the MDP chairperson election, former President Mohamed Nasheed stated that the Maldives cannot be abandoned, emphasizing that the nation belongs to all its citizens. President Nasheed further assured that the MDP would always stand firm to ensure the country's safety and security, as well as to safeguard the prosperity and freedom of the people.
Levelling sharp criticism against the government, President Nasheed stated that disciplinary actions are being taken against MDP members employed at State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) during this election period. He asserted that the MDP will stand firm against such injustices and will not back down under any circumstances.
President Nasheed further stated that the government must immediately cease its ongoing injustices. Warning that the MDP would launch direct action against these activities, he emphasized that they would closely monitor the government's conduct and maintain constant oversight of its actions.
