Under the government's "Cool School" project, air conditioning units have been installed at the school in M. Kolhufushi; however, they have remained unconnected for over six months, according to Mohamed Ihusan, the MDP National Council member for the constituency.
Speaking on Raajje TV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Ihsan expressed concern over the general situation in Kolhufushi, noting that residents are currently deprived of essential services. However, he emphasized that the current administration is committed to working closely with the people to ensure these services are provided efficiently and accessibly.
Referring to the "Cool School" project, Ihusan stated that while the installation of air conditioning units at Kolhufushi School has been completed, they remain unusable as the wiring has not been connected. He expressed significant concern over the matter, noting that the equipment has remained idle in this state for more than six months.
The "Cool School" project at Kolhufushi School was initiated early in the current term. Under this project, air conditioning units have already been mounted; however, they remain covered in their original packaging. Due to incomplete electrical wiring, the units have remained non-functional for approximately six months.Mohamed Ihusan, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) National Council Member for the Mulaku constituency.
The "Cool School" project was officially launched on June 2, 2024.
Although the Ministry of Education initially stated that the "Cool School" project would be implemented with the assistance of the government and the community, the project was later handed over to Fenaka Corporation. Furthermore, Fenaka's Managing Director, Muad Mohamed Rasheed, had previously announced that the practical work for the project would be completed by the end of June.
