Discussions held on further strengthening bilateral relations between Maldives and Japan

The Vice President of the Maldives, Hussain Mohamed Latheef, and the Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Ishigami Rumiko, have held discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting took place on Thursday at the President's Office. During the courtesy call, she reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that the long-standing and robust relations between the Maldives and Japan continue to flourish in the future.
Furthermore, according to the President's Office, the two leaders discussed potential areas for further strengthening bilateral ties as both nations prepare to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
Furthermore, the Vice President expressed his gratitude for the continuous assistance provided by the Japanese government to the Maldives. He specifically highlighted Japan's support in areas such as human resource development, infrastructure projects, education, sports development, climate change mitigation, disaster management, and the strengthening of social ties. The Vice President also welcomed the growing people-to-people connections between the two nations.
