WAMCO has confirmed that salaries have been paid to all its employees
Despite denials from the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) regarding reports of delayed salary payments, complaints have mounted from frontline waste collection staff who claim to be facing significant financial hardships due to the delays. Furthermore, a serious issue has emerged involving the company’s failure to deposit employee pension contributions for the past 19 months, a matter that has now been officially submitted to the People’s Majlis for investigation.

The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has confirmed that all its employees have now received their salaries.
Following reports that employees of the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) were facing salary delays, RaajjeTV reached out to the company for clarification. In response, WAMCO stated that salaries have now been paid to all employees. Furthermore, the corporation dismissed the circulating rumors regarding unpaid wages, asserting that these claims are inaccurate.
Despite statements from WAMCO, RaajjeMV has received reports from employees that some staff had still not received their salaries as of Monday. While administrative staff at WAMCO have reportedly been paid, sources indicate that there have been significant delays in salary payments for operational staff, including waste collectors and those working on the streets.
Despite the Ministry of Finance's announcement that salaries and allowances for May would be disbursed between Thursday, May 28, and May 31, several employees of WAMCO have taken to social media to express their frustration over significant delays in receiving their pay. The delay in salary payments has caused substantial financial hardship and distress for the affected WAMCO staff.
While reports indicate that the company has faced difficulties in paying employee salaries over the past five months, a new issue has emerged involving the failure to deposit pension contributions. It has been revealed that pension deductions taken from employees' wages have not been credited to the Retirement Pension Scheme for 19 months. This matter has now been formally submitted to the People’s Majlis for review.
Employees of WAMCO received their December salaries only after the start of January. Similarly, January’s wages were disbursed after the beginning of February. Following media reports regarding the non-payment of February’s salaries, the funds were finally deposited around March 10. March salaries were also issued only after employees voiced their concerns and the matter was highlighted in the news. Most recently, April’s wages were paid after the start of May.
WAMCO employees were only issued their salaries and Ramadan allowances after the matter was reported in the news and met with widespread public criticism.
