WAMCO employees still waiting for salaries promised by May 31!

Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) is facing significant payroll issues, with reports emerging that several employees have yet to receive their salaries for May. While staff have raised concerns over persistent payment delays over the past six months, frustrations are mounting as political appointees continue to receive their wages on time. Furthermore, it has been revealed that the corporation has failed to deposit employee pension contributions for over a year, despite the funds being deducted from their paychecks.

Despite the Ministry of Finance's earlier announcement that salaries and allowances for May would be disbursed between Thursday, May 28, and May 31, it has come to light that several employees at the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) have yet to receive their pay.

Amidst growing public frustration over the government's failure to disburse salaries prior to the Eid holidays, the Ministry of Finance has announced that the disbursement of salaries and allowances for this month will commence on Thursday, May 28. According to the Ministry, state employees will receive their salaries for the month of May on May 28 and May 31.

However, several employees of the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) have reported that they have yet to receive their salaries.

While reports indicate that employees of the company have faced salary delays for the past five months, it has also been revealed that pension fund contributions have remained unpaid for several months. Speaking to RaajjeTV, some employees stated that they have yet to receive their salaries for May, with no clear indication of when the payments will be made. This marks the sixth consecutive month that staff have encountered such issues.

Efforts to obtain an official comment from WAMCO regarding this matter have been unsuccessful. RaajjeTV also reached out to the company during its "Fashaairu" program to seek further details. A spokesperson for the company stated that administrative staff have received their salaries; however, they noted that only the Human Resources department could confirm whether all employees had been paid. As the HR department did not answer the calls, further details could not be obtained.

Despite multiple attempts to reach them, officials from the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) have declined to comment on the matter. Consequently, the exact reason for the delay and the total number of employees affected remain unclear. WAMCO has also maintained its silence regarding similar salary disputes in the past.

Salaries for December were only disbursed after the start of January, followed by January’s pay, which was issued after February had already begun. Similarly, February’s wages remained unpaid until media reports surfaced, prompting a disbursement around March 10. March salaries were also delayed, only being settled after employees voiced their concerns and the issue was highlighted in the news. This trend continued into April, with salaries once again being paid only after the start of May.

WAMCO employees were only issued their salaries and Ramadan allowances after the matter was reported in the news and met with widespread public criticism.

Employees had been expressing significant concerns as the company's Human Resources Department failed to provide a specific date for the disbursement of the Ramadan allowance, even as the holy month began. Following media coverage of the issue and mounting public criticism on social media, the company finally deposited the allowance into employees' accounts on February 19th.

Amidst emerging reports of numerous administrative failures within the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), a senior official at the company, speaking on condition of anonymity, has revealed that several expatriate employees have yet to receive their salaries. The official further noted that last month's wages were only disbursed after the 20th. The source also alleged that some expatriate workers are being intimidated and warned against speaking out regarding the delays in their pay.

Addressing management's allegations that companies are failing to settle their dues with WAMCO, he stated that the corporation receives significant daily cash inflows and that companies are indeed paying their bills. He further noted that while some companies occasionally face delays in making payments, they do eventually settle their outstanding invoices.

He stated that this was merely an excuse and did not address the root of the problem. He further noted that numerous political appointments have already been made at the company's expense, involving individuals who simply clock in and return home. Additionally, he remarked that some employees spend their working hours playing cards and engaging in various other recreational activities within the office.

However, he noted that the salaries of political appointees are several times higher than those of the company's regular staff, and that these officials face no issues regarding their pay. He further stated that they receive their salaries even before the start of the month and were also provided with their Ramadan allowance well in advance.

Highlighting the dire financial state of WAMCO, he warned that if current trends continue, services will soon be disrupted and the company will face total bankruptcy. He further noted that the corporation is already operating at a loss.

Amidst mounting concerns regarding the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), it has emerged that the company has failed to deposit pension contributions for over a year, despite deducting the funds from employees' salaries.
