MDP member Maaz Saleem has heavily criticized the government's policies, alleging that President Dr. Muizzu intends to govern the country under a monarchical system. Highlighting that recent election results clearly demonstrate a loss of public confidence in the administration, Saleem noted the government's failure to take responsibility for its mid-term setbacks and further accused the leadership of repeatedly misleading the public.

Despite President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s claims that there is no opposition in the country, Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem), a member of the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) National Congress, has asserted that it is this very opposition that continues to secure victories in every election held.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Saleem severely criticized the government's policies.
Responding to President Muizzu’s assertion that there is no opposition in the country, Saleem stated that despite the President's claims, opposition forces are winning all currently held elections. He further noted that the election results clearly demonstrate that the public no longer wishes to support the current administration.
He stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu intends to govern the country under a monarchical system; however, public trust has been completely eroded due to the current administration's actions.

Citing international precedents, Saleem stated that leaders in other countries often resign after facing defeat in midterm elections. However, he noted that such accountability is absent among the current administration's leadership, further asserting that the government refuses to take responsibility for any of its actions.
President Muizzu recently remarked that some individuals tell lies without even a hint of hesitation. In response, Saleem has issued a sharp and forceful rebuttal to the President's comments.
He stated that while the government accuses others of spreading falsehoods, the lies it has told the public are far more numerous. He further noted that the lack of accountability among senior government officials is becoming increasingly evident.
