Information has been received indicating that Moosa Zameer resigned from his position as Minister of Finance due to health reasons.
Zameer resigned from his post sometime on Monday. The government spokesperson, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu), confirmed the resignation to RaajjeMV.
RaajjeMV understands that Zameer cited health reasons as the cause for his resignation. In his letter, he noted that his medical condition requires hospitalization and mentioned that he had recently undergone inpatient treatment. Specifically, it has been reported that Zameer underwent surgery this past December.
In his letter, Zameer stated that his current health condition does not permit him to fulfill the demanding responsibilities associated with the role of a cabinet minister.
Zameer has told local media outlets that despite resigning from his ministerial post, he will not distance himself from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.
Zameer's resignation from his ministerial post comes while he was serving as the chair of the crisis committee established in response to the conflict in Iran.
In addition, he also serves as the President of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has recently implemented significant changes to his cabinet. Following these reshuffles, some of the outgoing ministers have been appointed as ambassadors, while others have been assigned to various government positions at the ministerial level.
