Ibrahim Rashaad, who served the Maldivian state for more than 45 years, dies
Ibrahim Rashaad, a recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin, was a seasoned statesman who served the nation for over 45 years, holding prominent leadership roles including Atoll Chief and Commissioner of Elections.

Ibrahim Rashaad, who served the Maldivian state for more than 45 years, has passed away.
Rashaad, a recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin, has passed away at the age of 78. He passed away this afternoon following a prolonged illness.
Rashaad began his distinguished career in public service on June 26, 1961, as a clerk at the Ministry of Trade. Throughout his tenure, he provided invaluable service across various institutions, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Airport Office, the Ministry of Health, and Radio Maldives. Furthermore, he held several high-level positions, including Manager at STO, Legal Officer at the Northern Regional Office, and Senior Under Secretary at the Ministry of Atolls Administration. He also served as the Vice Chairman of the Atolls Development Advisory Board.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his deepest condolences to the family of the late Ibrahim Rashaad following his passing. The President highlighted that Rashaad was an exemplary model of diligence, integrity, and strategic planning in every responsibility entrusted to him by the state. The President further described him as a wise and capable leader, noting that the nation has lost an invaluable expert whose contributions were of immense significance.
Rashaad is a veteran official who played a pivotal role in streamlining government administration two decades ago, during an era when technological resources were limited. Furthermore, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of public services for the citizenry.
The late Ibrahim Rashaad was a distinguished public servant who held numerous high-ranking positions within the state. His career included serving as the Atoll Chief for both Lhaviyani Atoll and Thaa Atoll. Furthermore, he served as the Commissioner of Elections for a period exceeding six years. His most recent appointment was as Minister of State and Principal Collector of Customs.
Rashaad, who served extensively in the public sector, previously held the positions of Director General at Maldives Post Limited and Director of the Selected Islands Development Unit. Ibrahim Rashaad, who retired from public service on September 4, 2008, is survived by his wife and three daughters.
