Muizzu is pushing Maldives to the brink of a revolution, consequences will be dire: Nasheed
Speaking at a campaign event in Fiyoaree, former President Nasheed warned that the government's attempts to suppress public sentiment through undue influence would lead to bitter consequences. Noting a significant decline in President Muizzu’s popularity, Nasheed declared that the MDP would regroup its forces to intensify efforts in holding the administration accountable. He further highlighted that despite government intimidation tactics, the public continues to grant him a warm welcome.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is pushing the Maldives to the brink of a revolution, warning that the consequences will be extremely bitter.
Speaking at the "Bodu Badhalu" campaign event held in GDh. Fiyoaree on Sunday, Nasheed stated that he had received information that the government, upon learning of his visit, instructed the island council and local residents not to come out to welcome him.
However, despite the government's directives, a warm welcome was extended.
Furthermore, Nasheed stated that the stalled harbor project in the island has resumed practical work in conjunction with his visit.
I received a great deal of information while en route to Fiyoaree. The first thing I learned was that instructions were issued—not by the local council, but from Male’—forbidding both the council and the residents of Fiyoaree from coming out to welcome us. Despite this, it was expected that the people of Fiyoaree would still turn out. When they did, government officials on the island reportedly began rounding up those gathered at the beach and forcing them back into their homes. Furthermore, regarding the harbor where we were scheduled to dock, work had been at a complete standstill. However, they suddenly resumed dredging operations today, just as we were arriving.Former President Mohamed Nasheed
Noting that President Muizzu is pushing the entire country to the brink of a revolution, Nasheed stated that any attempt to suppress or control the will of the people through brute force would ultimately fail. He further warned that such actions would lead to bitter consequences, a pattern already well-documented throughout Maldivian history.
I would like to remind President Muizzu that perhaps he and his associates have forgotten the events that unfolded in the Maldives over the past 20 to 25 years. Dr. Muizzu is pushing the entire nation to the brink of a revolution. I have witnessed this scene before. Between late 2006 and 2007, the Maldives stood on the precipice of an uprising. Every island in the country was boiling over. People were protesting against the government and engaging in direct action. The root cause was that any attempt to suppress a person's inner convictions and desires through brute force is destined to fail. Such actions only yield bitter and disastrous consequences. These are truths clearly demonstrated throughout human history and the life cycles of nations. If this administration attempts to repeat the tactics used prior to 2008 now that the MDP is beginning to revitalize, the outcome will be far more bitter than what we have seen in the past.Former President Mohamed Nasheed
Nasheed stated that President Muizzu’s approval rating dropping to 5 percent is a separate issue and one that cannot be overlooked. He further emphasized that the President himself must acknowledge this reality.
Furthermore, Nasheed stated that the MDP's ranks would be reorganized and that the party would emerge stronger and more resilient. He asserted that the MDP would not back down and would remain steadfast in its efforts to hold the government accountable and advocate for reform.
