More than 100,000 citizens have said "no" to this administration; it is time to step down: Nazil
Responding to claims in Parliament that the PNC provided the funds paid to fishermen, MP Nazil asserted that the payments were actually generated from the sale of fish stock remaining in cold storage at the end of the MDP administration. He criticized the current government for failing to deliver tangible results for the public despite being in power for over two years, noting that initiatives like the Development Bank have yet to show progress. Consequently, Nazil urged members of the ruling party to refrain from making statements that disregard the facts of the matter.

As this administration approaches its third year in office, the public has demonstrated that the government has failed to deliver on its promises, with over 148,000 citizens voicing their rejection of the current leadership, stated Ibrahim Nazil, the Member of Parliament for South Hithadhoo and Parliamentary Group Leader of the MDP.
During Monday's People's Majlis sitting, members of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) criticized the previous administration's track record. Several members alleged that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) government had neglected the fisheries sector, asserting that outstanding payments to fishermen were only settled after the PNC took office.
Responding to the remarks, Nazil stated that PNC members are only targeting the MDP because they have been soundly defeated, weakened, and reduced to a state of subservience. He noted that while those in such a position often have much to say, the PNC remains oblivious to the internal workings of the MDP.
Responding to claims by members that the PNC provided the funds to pay fishermen, Nazil stated that the payments were actually made using revenue generated from the sale of fish stocks held in cold storage at the time.
Nazil further stated that the proceeds from the sale of fish held in cold storage at the end of the MDP administration were the rightful entitlement of the fishermen.
The fishermen were only paid their due after the catch stored in cold storage was sold and the funds were secured. This is the reality of the situation. If you are ignorant of the facts, it is better to remain silent. Speak only on matters you understand and refrain from discussing the fishing industry. There are surely other topics you are qualified to speak on; it would be far better to focus on those. A development bank was established, yet absolutely nothing has come of it. We don't even know where it is located; its doors haven't even opened. What exactly has been developed? With nearly two and a half to three years of this term passed, the public has clearly demonstrated that nothing has been achieved for them. A resounding "no" was delivered, with over 148,000 citizens rejecting this administration. The message is clear: it is time to step down and go.Ibrahim Nazil, the Member of Parliament for the South Hithadhoo constituency and the Parliamentary Group Leader of the MDP.
Nazil stated that members should only speak on the floor about matters for which they have verified facts. He noted that as the current administration approaches its third year, it has failed to deliver any meaningful progress for the people, adding that the public has expressed their dissatisfaction over this lack of results. The member further asserted that the significant number of people who have rejected the government serves as sufficient evidence of this failure.
