The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has reinstated several individuals who were previously removed from senior leadership positions within the party.
Reliable sources have informed RaajjeMV that Ibrahim Waheed, the Deputy Chairperson (Administrative) of the MDP, and Ahmed Mauroof, the party's Legal Director, were reinstated to their positions on Saturday.
In a letter sent by Ghafoor on April 7, Waheed was informed of his dismissal without any specific reason being disclosed. At the time, his removal was cited under Article 70 of the Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) constitution. Mauroof was also dismissed on the same day. Similarly, the letter sent by Ghafoor regarding Mauroof's removal did not state a reason for the decision.
Following the removal of the two individuals from their positions, a no-confidence motion was initially filed against Ghafoor, citing that the decision violated the party's charter. However, the underlying disputes have since been resolved, and the no-confidence motion against Ghafoor has been withdrawn.
