Loss of North Hithadhoo seat marks beginning of a political earthquake: Sinan
Former Member of Parliament Abdulla Sinan has stated that the loss of the Hithadhoo North constituency seat marks the beginning of a significant shift in the Maldivian political landscape. Highlighting that election results are reflecting public discontent with government decisions, Sinan noted that the window to repair internal fractures within the ruling party has now closed. He further predicted that as the public begins to voice its dissent, the country should expect major political upheavals.

Former Member of Parliament for South Machangolhi constituency, Abdulla Sinan, has stated that the loss of the North Hithadhoo seat by MP Mohamed Sinan is clear evidence of the current state of upheaval and instability within the Maldivian political landscape.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Sinan stated that this marks the beginning of a significant transformation within the Maldivian political landscape.
Reflecting on the case regarding the loss of Mohamed Sinan’s parliamentary seat, Abdulla Sinan stated that the matter was clear and absolute. However, he noted that the six to eight-month delay in reaching a resolution raised significant questions, adding that as time progresses, a shift in the situation is becoming evident. Sinan described the current political climate following the local council elections as the beginning of a powerful political "earthquake" in the Maldives.
Sinan stated that the country is currently witnessing a powerful political wave that has completely shifted the landscape from one end to the other. He noted that this is a significant lesson for all politicians and active participants in the political sphere. Sinan further emphasized that it has now become clear that if a government or a political party fails to ensure public satisfaction and improve the lives of the people, the citizens will rise up and make their voices heard.
As we reach this stage, the election results have become clear. One thing has become evident to everyone involved, both internally and externally, and there is a shared consensus on this matter. A significant number of people have expressed dissatisfaction with the government's actions. This sentiment is shared even among their own supporters. The 70 percent margin we are seeing is a direct reflection of that discontent. It proves that no matter how the government attempts to present policies that the public dislikes, the final outcome will always align with the will of the people. Today’s vote is a clear manifestation of that reality. Everything is now coming to a head, and what we are witnessing is only the beginning. God willing, I hope to see these issues gradually unravel within the Parliament and across other government institutions. I do not believe the current ruling party will be able to contain these issues or stabilize their position within the next two years.Abdulla Sinan, the former Member of Parliament for the South Machangolhi constituency.
Sinan further stated that it has now become clear that whenever something the public disapproves of is presented to them, regardless of its form, the ultimate outcome will align with the people's will. He also noted that he does not believe the fractures within the ruling party can be mended or rectified within the next two years. He emphasized that the damage is far too extensive and that there is no longer enough time to implement the necessary reforms.
Sinan stated that given the current global landscape and the ongoing major conflicts, it is imperative to stabilize the Maldives' internal affairs. However, he criticized the government's policies, asserting that progress cannot be achieved by focusing solely on political agendas. He further noted that the opportunities to undertake meaningful work for the future of the citizens have now become increasingly limited.
