62 questions currently remain unanswered by government ministers in Parliament; Muizzu must take full responsibility for this lack of accountability: MP Nazil

MP Nazil has criticized the current administration, stating that cabinet ministers are failing to remain accountable to the People's Majlis, with 62 parliamentary inquiries currently pending. Holding President Muizzu responsible for this lack of transparency, Nazil asserted that the President is not leading a government for the people and claimed that despite holding full power, the public recognizes his failure to deliver on their behalf.

Ibrahim Nazil, the Parliamentary Group Leader of the MDP and Member for South Hithadhoo constituency, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu must take responsibility for his cabinet ministers' failure to remain accountable to the People’s Majlis. Nazil further asserted that the public now recognizes that despite holding full power, the administration has failed to deliver any meaningful results for the citizens.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, MP Nazil stated that independent institutions no longer exist under the current administration. He asserted that the independence of these bodies is compromised the moment President Muizzu appoints his preferred individuals to lead them.

He noted that although numerous cases are currently being filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the body has failed to investigate any of them. Furthermore, he stated that while several issues regarding the three elections held on April 4 were identified and brought to the attention of the Elections Commission (EC), no satisfactory response or resolution has been provided to date.

Furthermore, MP Nazil leveled heavy criticism against the ministers of the current administration.

He stated that the ministers of the current administration are failing to remain accountable to the People's Majlis, noting that there are currently 62 pending questions in parliament. MP Nazil further asserted that President Muizzu must take full responsibility for this lack of accountability.

MP Nazil stated that President Muizzu is not a leader who will govern for the people. He added that the public now recognizes that despite wielding full authority, the President has failed to deliver any meaningful results for the citizens.

Who should be held accountable when the President’s ministers fail to answer to the People’s Majlis? If they refuse to fulfill their duties, shouldn't they be dismissed? We currently have 62 questions pending in Parliament. As representatives of the people, we are entitled to receive answers within 14 days. This is a fundamental requirement that is simply not being met today. They refuse to comply, yet no action is taken against them. Why has it reached this point? It is becoming increasingly clear to the public, as things continue to deteriorate, that this leader is not one who intends to govern for the people.

MP Nazil stated that the public has delivered a clear verdict to the government through the results of the last three elections, following a period of continuous national decline. He noted that the people have rejected this administration, asserting that after two and a half years of inaction, the public no longer believes the government is capable of delivering results in the future.
