Government officials and Members of Parliament are not standing with President Muizzu: MP Ziyad
MP Ziyad stated that the results of the elections held on the 4th of this month reflect public dissatisfaction with government policies and recent constitutional amendments. He noted that while Members of Parliament and senior officials appear to stand firmly with the President, they are doing so under duress rather than genuine support. Furthermore, Ziyad highlighted that the dismissal of individuals from government positions following the election serves as clear evidence of internal divisions within the administration.

Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Hussain Ziyad, has stated that officials of the current administration and members of the People's Majlis do not stand with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, MP Ziyad stated that after assuming office, President Muizzu secured a supermajority in the People’s Majlis and established full control over its members.
MP Ziyad stated that while PNC members appear to stand firmly behind President Muizzu in the public eye, their private conversations in the halls of Parliament reveal a different reality. He noted that despite these internal divisions being brought to light, some members of the public—and even President Muizzu himself—refuse to acknowledge them. However, Ziyad emphasized that the results of the three elections held on the 4th of this month have now made this situation clear.
Furthermore, MP Ziyad stated that the public is dissatisfied with the constitutional amendments being pushed through Parliament and that citizens do not accept the changes made to the decentralization system.
Even those members do not believe they should remain in such a position. However, following the amendments to the law, they found themselves cornered and trapped within that situation. Consequently, the President observed a parliament that appeared formidable and rigid. Believing this to be the permanent state of affairs, significant changes were made to both the law and the Constitution. One of those changes has now reached the public. In the only opportunity the people had to voice their opinion, they have spoken. Prior to this, the public had no such chance. The elected representatives were initially subjugated. Until now, we have only heard the rhetoric they produced while under that subjugation. This was the government's first opportunity to decide a matter without the involvement of those members. It was the single chance to make a decision independent of the sitting members of Parliament. In that opportunity, the people have delivered their verdict.Hussain Ziyad, the Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency.
MP Ziyad stated that a significant picture is emerging from the changes currently being observed within the government following the election.
He stated that it has become evident that government officials and members of Parliament do not stand with President Muizzu.
MP Ziyad’s remarks come at a time when the government has begun removing several CEOs and high-ranking officials from state-owned enterprises following the conclusion of the elections.
