Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif has stated that the cities have sent a clear message to the government, signaling a complete lack of confidence in the administration.
In an interview with RaajjeTV, he stated that it must now be clear to the government that they will not be successful in 2028. He noted that the people of Kulhudhuffushi have sent a strong message to the administration, which he believes will compel the government to fulfill the promises made to the city.
Athif stated that residents of Kulhudhuffushi appreciate the development brought to the city by the MDP, noting that the council is currently held by an MDP majority. He further emphasized that the public's continued trust in the council has been clearly demonstrated.
"Another issue is that the government has failed to initiate any development projects over the past two years. Notably, projects launched by previous administrations have also come to a standstill. The failure to execute these projects, coupled with rising costs, played a significant role in the election results," Athif said.
Athif noted that the decision was made by the public for the future of the city. He further stated that the results demonstrated a clear rejection of attempts to interfere with the decentralization system.
