Fenaka DMD Arif resigns from post
Following the ruling PNC's electoral setbacks, several heads of state-owned enterprises, including Fenaka Corporation, along with certain ambassadors, have been dismissed or pressured to resign. Among those removed are individuals accused of undermining government support, including family members of Central Maafannu MP Asma Rasheed. While these high-level leadership changes continue, the government has yet to provide official justifications for the dismissals.

Mohamed Arif, the Deputy Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, has unexpectedly resigned from his post.
Arif’s resignation comes at a time when several senior government officials are either being dismissed or stepping down voluntarily. This wave of departures follows the significant defeat suffered by the ruling PNC in the elections held on Saturday.
Arif’s resignation follows the dismissal of two senior executives from Fenaka Corporation on Wednesday. The officials removed from their posts are Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mohamed Jihad and Chief Resources Officer Abdulla Sanoon. Neither the company nor the government has disclosed the reasons behind the dismissals. This lack of transparency is consistent with previous instances where senior political appointees were removed from their positions without official explanation.
Furthermore, Fenaka Corporation’s Managing Director, Mohamed Najah, was dismissed from his post on Monday. Additionally, the Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Mohamed Rishwan, resigned Monday night at the request of President Muizzu. As part of these changes, the Managing Director of AgroNet, Hussain Didi, and the Deputy Managing Director of MWSC, Ibrahim Shahid, were also removed from their positions on Monday.
Furthermore, the Maldivian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Dr. Salma Rasheed, have been dismissed from their posts. Mohamed Hussain Shareef is the son of Asma Rasheed, the People’s National Congress (PNC) Member of Parliament for the Central Maafannu constituency. Dr. Salma is the younger sister of Asma Rasheed.
The dismissal of these two officials comes amid a controversy involving a leaked audio recording of Central Maafannu MP Asma Rasheed, in which she allegedly encouraged voters to withhold support for the ruling PNC.
