Those in power believed they could do whatever they pleased by exhausting the state's resources, but the people felt differently: Azim
Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has criticized the current administration, stating that the government lacks the competence to govern and cannot sway public opinion through influence or financial inducements. Azim further asserted that the administration came to power through deception, noting that citizens have already expressed their disapproval through their votes in the recent local council by-elections.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that while the current administration believes they can act with impunity by depleting the state's resources, the public's perspective remains fundamentally different.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Azim stated that the current ruling party lacks the necessary competence to govern the country. He emphasized that effective governance requires providing essential services to the citizens. However, he noted that those currently in power seem to believe they can achieve their objectives by simply depleting the state's resources.
However, Azim noted that the public's perspective was quite different.
Azim further stated that although the government believes citizens can be bought by distributing money ahead of every election, the Maldivian people are not commodities for sale.
These individuals believe that through money, influence, and the exploitation of state resources, they can achieve anything. However, this country does not function that way. The people are not "for sale." They operate under the delusion that every citizen has a price, but they cannot buy a single person in this nation. They mistakenly assumed the Maldivian people were that "cheap."Male' City Mayor Adam Azim
Azim stated that the Maldivian people have delivered their verdict against the current administration through their votes, demonstrating a clear understanding of how democracy functions. He further asserted that the incumbent President assumed office by significantly misleading the public.
Azim further stated that the public granted the five incumbent MDP mayors another term because they had demonstrated strong leadership during their previous tenure.
Azim stated that one should only seek re-election after having delivered meaningful services to the people. He noted that his decision to contest for the Malé mayoralty for a second term was rooted in his belief that he had successfully served the community. He further highlighted that the overwhelming majority granted to the MDP reflects the public's clear endorsement and acceptance of his work.
