Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has stated that the decision to increase the prize money for Madaha and Quran competitions was aimed at fostering religious interest among young minds and providing them with meaningful encouragement.
Azim made these remarks while speaking at the awards ceremony for the Male' City Council's 5th Quran and Madhaha Competition.
Azim stated that a total of 1,154 participants registered for the competitions, including 793 contestants for the Quran competition and 364 for the Madhaha (religious song) competition. However, he noted that some students were unable to complete their performances as the event coincided with school examinations. Azim assured that such scheduling conflicts would be taken into consideration when organizing future competitions.
Azim stated that the City Council prioritizes instilling long-lasting, positive habits among children and the youth. He expressed hope that such competitions would foster a deeper love for the Quran and religious values within the younger generation. Furthermore, he noted that the book published in conjunction with these competitions would serve as a significant and valuable resource.
"By documenting this in the form of a book, it will be recorded and preserved for history," Azim said.
Furthermore, Mayor Azim stated that the competition provides an opportunity to revive and strengthen religious faith and the love for Islam. He also noted that holding the event at King Salman Mosque added to the overall prestige and excellence of the competition.
