Male' City Mayor and mayoral candidate Adam Azim has stated that the People’s National Congress (PNC) lacks a coherent political ideology, which is why they frequently rebrand themselves under different logos.
He made these remarks while speaking at an MDP street rally on Thursday night.
Azim questioned what the PNC has actually achieved as they prepare to contest their third election. He asserted that the only thing those aligned with that ideology have accomplished is harassing the public and spreading falsehoods. He further noted that the current administration has failed to deliver any meaningful results for Male'. In contrast, Azim stated that the MDP is a trustworthy party with a proven track record of delivering on the needs of the people.
"Every time they come to power, they resort to boasting and spreading falsehoods. When they fail to deliver on their campaign promises, they are forced to change the party's logo and return with a new identity," Azim said.
Azim stated that the PNC is not a trustworthy party, asserting that the government has failed to deliver any meaningful results for the people thus far. He further noted that the MDP is contesting the local council elections having already addressed key issues facing the public. Azim highlighted that, during his tenure as Mayor, he has successfully delivered the necessary developments for Malé.
Azim stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is making new pledges while disregarding his previous commitments. He noted that the administration has failed to deliver on its initial promises. Azim emphasized that the public can only ensure their needs are met by this government through sustained pressure. He asserted that the way to achieve this is by voting for the MDP, describing the ballot box as a vital opportunity to hold the government accountable. He further characterized the upcoming vote as a prime opportunity for citizens to reject what he called a deceitful administration.
