PNC banners displayed across Male' fail to mention a single service provided to residents, while the party's door-to-door campaign is being led by Falah, the man who advocated for seizure of land plots: Ali Waheed
The MDP has accused the government of exerting undue influence and intimidating employees during the local council election campaign, asserting that conducting door-to-door campaigning alongside individuals who previously called for the seizure of land from Male' residents demonstrates a lack of sincere intent. While the party claims the PNC is solely focused on the presidential election, they remain confident that despite any government pressure, the MDP will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming polls.

Abdulla Waheed, the MDP spokesperson for the upcoming local council elections and President of the Dhidhdhoo constituency, has criticized the PNC, stating that the banners they have displayed across Male' do not represent any actual service rendered to the city's residents. He asserted that these banners were merely put up as part of their preparations for the presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference held by the MDP, Waheed noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is being accompanied on his door-to-door campaign in Male' by PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah—the same individual who previously called for the seizure and theft of land plots belonging to the residents of Male'. Waheed further stated that appointing Falah as a campaign manager and conducting door-to-door visits alongside him suggests that the President lacks any sincere or positive intentions toward the people of Male'.
Waheed stated that all the banners displayed across Male' merely highlight the installation of ATMs, noting a complete absence of any messaging relevant to the city's residents. He further remarked that, beyond this lack of representation, no meaningful work has actually been done for the people of Male'.
Therefore, there is no reason for the people of Male' to cast their votes for them. We have not observed any content on those banners related to preparations for the local council elections. Instead, what we see are banners put up specifically to prepare for the upcoming presidential election. For these individuals, the local council elections hold no importance. Their sole focus and priority is the upcoming presidential election.Abdulla Waheed, Spokesperson for the Council Elections.
Waheed stated that the activities of opponents, particularly those within the government, have highlighted an extreme level of intimidation and undue influence surrounding this election. He further noted that the country's independent institutions have failed to investigate or address any of these issues. He added that some employees are being dismissed from their jobs or transferred to islands away from their homes simply for participating in MDP activities or appearing in photographs with the party's teams.
My message to the government is that regardless of the amount of influence exerted, the MDP will, God willing, win this election by a significant margin. The MDP is currently making all necessary preparations for this election. We have noted that the PNC Parliamentary Group Leader is now suggesting that the MDP needs to form a new party. However, the MDP is the oldest political party in this country. This is the party that has governed this nation twice, and God willing, it is this party that will govern again in the future.Abdulla Waheed, Spokesperson for the Council Elections.
Waheed stated that the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) will reach its end with the upcoming presidential election. He remarked that they would eventually be forced to form a new party, whereas the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will continue to grow stronger within the framework of the country's multi-party system. Waheed further emphasized that the MDP is not a party dependent on the presence or absence of any specific individual, but rather an organization that functions as a robust institution. He asserted that the party would continue to operate effectively regardless of the challenges faced, concluding that the MDP remains the only party capable of bringing hope to the Maldivian people, God willing.
