Public trusts MDP because it is the party that makes promises and delivers on them: Ibrahim Rasheed
Former Member of Parliament Ibrahim Rasheed has asserted that the current administration has lost public confidence and predicted that President Dr. Muizzu will fail to secure a victory in the upcoming local council elections. While suggesting that the government might attempt to influence the outcome using state resources, Rasheed emphasized that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) would secure a majority in a free and fair election. He concluded that the upcoming polls will serve as a critical barometer of genuine public support for the government.

Former Member of Parliament for the Central Maafannu constituency, Ibrahim Rasheed (Bondaa), has stated that the Maldivian people place their trust in the MDP because it is a party that fulfills its promises.
Speaking during the party's "door-to-door" campaign activity in the Maafannu Medhu constituency on Thursday night, Rasheed stated that current trends indicate President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is unable to secure a victory in any election.
Rasheed stated that the public no longer places any trust in the ruling PNC and has no desire to elect its members to any position. He further asserted that if a fair election is held, the MDP will secure the majority of seats in the upcoming local council elections.
I do not see any way for Muizzu to win an election. The only viable path forward lies with the culture we have long maintained within the MDP—the culture of making promises and fulfilling them. Public trust remains with the MDP. In this council election as well, the MDP will secure the majority of seats through the electoral process. It will not be otherwise. Those who take seats where there is no competition, or those who acquire them through bribery and by draining the state treasury, cannot be considered true representatives of the people.Ibrahim Rasheed, the former Member of Parliament for the Central Maafannu constituency.
However, Rasheed stated that while the PNC might succeed in winning certain seats by depleting the state treasury to buy them, those elected would not be members who represent the people. Instead, he asserted that such individuals would merely be representatives of the government.
Rasheed stated that the upcoming local council elections and the Women's Development Committee elections are of significant importance. He further noted that the Maldivian public recognizes this importance and is giving serious consideration to these elections.
Rasheed stated that the MDP's objective is to secure a significant number of seats in this election, noting that current indicators suggest they are on track to achieve this goal.
