The Member of Parliament for the Maradhoo constituency, Ahmed Didi, has stated that the ongoing campaign for the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections reveals a public eager to deliver a resounding rejection of the current administration and hand a decisive victory to the MDP.
In an exclusive interview with RaajjeMV, MP Didi stated that public sentiment regarding the upcoming local council elections suggests a clear rejection of the current administration. He noted that despite being given two years to govern, the administration has failed to deliver results for the people and continues to propagate significant falsehoods. Consequently, Didi emphasized that voters are prepared to deliver a resounding "no" to government candidates and instead secure seats for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), favoring their reformist agenda.
Didi stated that a referendum is being conducted alongside this election, noting that the public has expressed significant concerns regarding the matter. He further clarified that citizens are not troubled by an expenditure of 50 million rufiyaa over five years. Instead, their primary concern lies with the 635 million rufiyaa being spent over the same period on what he described as a redundant Ministry of Atolls.
In light of this vote, many citizens are raising questions about whether these individuals truly have no desire to engage with the public. They are questioning the motives behind these actions, asserting that this is not something any citizen wants to see.Ahmed Didi, Member of Parliament for the Maradhoo constituency.
Furthermore, Didi stated that citizens do not wish to lose the only opportunity they have to meet with their representatives. He added that in this referendum, the public will say "no" to President Muizzu.
Didi noted that engaging directly with the public reveals the extent of the current administration's failure, adding that citizens are calling for their representatives to maintain a consistent presence among them. Furthermore, he asserted that the people of Addu City will reject President Muizzu in the upcoming referendum.
