Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has successfully concluded a door-to-door campaign event held in the Central Maafannu constituency.
Speaking to RaajjeMV during an MDP event, former President Solih stated that the current administration is acting in a manner that undermines the voting rights of citizens. He noted that actions such as job transfers and dismissals are being used as a means to exert undue pressure on the public. He further emphasized that every individual must have the freedom to participate in the political activities of their choice.
"Every such action is an act of intimidation. We have held elections before during our administration as well. No one was dismissed from their jobs, nor were they transferred. We will investigate these matters and take action under an MDP government," former President Solih said.
Speaking at the event, Male’ City Mayor and MDP mayoral candidate Adam Azim stated that the ongoing door-to-door campaign activities have revealed a deep sense of public disillusionment. He noted that grievances against the government are being voiced at every household, highlighting a significant lack of public confidence in the current administration.
Azim stated that the public must deliver a resounding "no" to the government in the upcoming referendum on synchronizing local council, presidential, and parliamentary elections. He further asserted that the public recognizes that no meaningful progress or benefit for the citizens can be achieved as long as the MDP remains out of power.
