Muizzu administration has no intention of winning the election through legitimate campaigning; their only strategy is to steal the vote: Waheed
Former Member of Parliament Abdulla Waheed has accused the ruling PNC of campaigning in violation of established regulations by obstructing MDP candidate posters in Addu City. Expressing concern over alleged government interference and the harassment of candidates, Waheed asserted that the administration's strategy appears focused on seizing the election through force rather than securing a legitimate victory at the polls.

Former Dhidhdhoo MP Abdulla Waheed has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration has no intention of winning elections through legitimate campaigning, but is instead focused on rigging the electoral process.
He made these remarks while speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program. Waheed stated that candidates from the ruling PNC are placing their posters directly in front of those put up by MDP candidates in the Addu City Maradhoo constituency, despite the MDP candidates having obtained all necessary permits from the council.
He described these actions as a new low, stating that such behavior has never been witnessed in previous elections. Waheed noted that while campaigning in islands and cities is typically conducted in an organized manner with council permission, the PNC is acting in total disregard of established procedures.
They are operating in an unfamiliar and disorganized manner. This is hardly surprising, given that the PNC lacks a genuine foundation. After all, the party was not established on any authentic principles. Even their PG Leader, Ibrahim Falah—it is unclear where he even emerged from. So, how can we distinguish any sense of authenticity within that organization? When a party without a real foundation contests an election, it is only natural that their campaign reflects that same lack of substance. We do not see them engaging in any structured or strategic efforts necessary to win an election.Abdulla Waheed, the former Member of Parliament for the Dhidhdhoo constituency.
Furthermore, Waheed accused councils of obstructing MDP candidates by denying them space for posters and intentionally delaying the issuance of necessary permits. He stated that the government’s actions consistently reflect an attempt to conduct affairs through harassment and provocation.
Waheed further stated that the government’s intention is not to win the election through fair competition, but rather to steal the vote. He noted that even during the early stages of the election, attempts were made to pressure candidates into withdrawing their names by offering various inducements. Expressing his concern, Waheed said that instead of conducting a fair campaign, the government is attempting to secure victory by exerting undue influence and force.
