Waste management has failed at the Fahi Dhiriulhun flats, leaving piles of waste abandoned to the point of maggot infestation: Nooraddin
Fahi Union President Ibrahim Nooraddin has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating waste management system at housing units developed by Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), stating that residents are facing significant hardships due to institutional neglect. Despite the collection of maintenance fees, Nooraddin highlighted a lack of accountability regarding building repairs and sanitation, noting critical issues such as plumbing leaks in bathrooms and inadequate waste disposal facilities. He further emphasized that the undersized bins and the failure to collect refuse for up to a week have led to an accumulation of waste, creating a mounting public health hazard for the community.

Ibrahim Nooraddin, President of the Fahi Union, has stated that authorities have failed to manage kitchen waste at the "Fahi Dhiriulhun" flats, leaving the refuse to become infested with maggots.
He made these remarks while speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program.
Nooraddin highlighted that while residents of the Fahi Dhiriulhun flats are facing numerous difficulties, there appears to be no one taking responsibility for these issues. He noted that even when complaints are lodged regarding waste management, it remains unclear who is responsible for addressing them. According to Nooraddin, the bins provided for kitchen waste are inadequately small for the residents' needs. He pointed out that with 128 apartments in each tower, the small capacity of the designated bins leads to them overflowing, which in turn creates further complications.
"Waste is overflowing from the bags and remains there for a week or two, even becoming infested with maggots," he said.
Furthermore, he noted that although a maintenance fee has been collected since the first day the flats were handed over to the public, the services provided do not reflect the payments made. He highlighted that there is currently no one taking responsibility for this discrepancy. He further stated that when maintenance complaints are filed, the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) claims they are being addressed in a queue; however, he criticized the process for being excessively slow.
"There are significant complaints regarding issues such as leaks from the bathrooms. The provided contact numbers go unanswered, and we are simply told to submit a request. We have no idea when those requests will actually be attended to," he said.
He stated that although the current administration pledged to resolve the housing crisis, they have instead left the public in a state of despair regarding the issue.
