Lawyer for Fahi Union, Ali Hussain has stated that the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure is sending letters containing false information to show that people who qualified for the 4,000 flats being built in Hulhumalé do not live in the capital, Malé City.

Speaking at a press conference held by Fahi Union, the union's lawyer asserted that the dates for handing over the 4,000 flats built by Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation have passed. However, despite the government saying they would allocate flats according to the previous conditions, that is not the case. He said that letters are being sent, stating in these letters that for some reason, the recipients have not been living in Malé City for the past 15 years.

Further, the lawyer said that among those working in different parts of the country are people who have to go to other places due to their job requirements. This includes doctors, judges, teachers, nurses, military personnel, and police officers. Ali Hussain highlighted that even if such individuals had to go to islands for work, their families would be living in Malé City, and it is not just to conclude that these people do not live in the capital city.

Ali Hussain went on to note that if someone receives a letter regarding the flats and has a complaint, they have five days to submit it. However, when Fahi Union sent a letter to the ministry, they did not receive a response even after 15 days.

Ali Hussain said that a person serving as the housing minister would not knowingly send such a letter. He added that these letters are being sent without the minister's knowledge, and that letters containing false information are being sent to people.

Ali Hussain said that the housing ministry should investigate who is sending these letters containing false information and take necessary action.
