It has been revealed that the transfer of Ali Nabith Mohamed, which was allegedly carried out for political reasons due to his support for Thinadhoo Mayor Saud Ali in the upcoming council elections, is a temporary reassignment for a duration of six months.
This newspaper has obtained the official notice issued by WAMCO informing him of his job transfer.
Nabith, who has been temporarily reassigned, previously served as a cashier at the Southern Operations office in Thinadhoo. He has been transferred to the Northern Operations office in Kulhudhuffushi City.
WAMCO has informed him that his position has been reassigned for a six-month period, effective February 15, 2026.
The current administration has transferred three employees of the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) following their expression of support for the candidate of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). A reliable source informed RaajjeMV that prior to their transfers, the employees were issued warnings for allegedly campaigning against the government.
Reports are emerging of employees being dismissed, demoted, or forcibly transferred after expressing refusal to vote for candidates of the ruling PNC or declaring support for MDP candidates. Members of the public have criticized these actions, describing such pressures as an attempt to exert undue political influence. Despite the widespread nature of these allegations, relevant oversight bodies, including the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Elections Commission, have notably remained silent on the matter.
