Development projects will only proceed if MDP candidates are elected to the council; otherwise, these projects will remain stalled for the next three years: Faisal
Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that the only way to ensure island development through the decentralization system according to the people's wishes is by electing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidates to local councils. Speaking at a rally in Addu City, Faisal warned that voting for the ruling party’s candidates in the upcoming elections would lead to bitter consequences, as the current administration has halted ongoing development projects. He urged the public to send a strong message to the government by electing MDP candidates to restart development initiatives across the islands.

Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that development projects in the islands and cities of the Maldives will only progress if MDP candidates are elected in the upcoming Local Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections.
Speaking at the "Addu Bodu Jalsa" rally held by the MDP in Addu City on Friday night, Faisal stated that island development can only be achieved by aligning projects with the people's aspirations. He noted that since the introduction of the decentralization system, progress has consistently been driven by this approach. Faisal further emphasized that such development milestones over the past years were made possible because MDP members held seats within the local councils.
Faisal stated that development was brought to Addu City through the synergy of an MDP government and an MDP-led city council. He further noted that the development projects initiated in the city during the MDP administration remain visible to the public today.
The most significant and pressing challenges facing this city are flooding and the poor condition of the roads. To what extent has any work actually been carried out to address these issues? I want to urge the citizens to reflect on this. These discussions are only surfacing now, close to the elections, solely for the purpose of securing votes. There is no other motive. As the past two years have come to an end, what has truly been accomplished? I have visited every island in Addu over the last two years, and I have seen absolutely no progress beyond what was initiated during the previous five-year term.Former Vice President Faisal Naseem
Faisal stated that these are issues every Maldivian citizen must seriously consider today. He warned that electing candidates from the ruling PNC to local councils while development projects remain stalled across all islands and cities would lead to bitter consequences.
Faisal warned that if these matters are handled without careful consideration, no development projects will take place on any Maldivian island for the next three years. Therefore, he stressed the importance of electing MDP candidates to councils to send a powerful message to the current administration.
