Despite 90 percent of the Hithadhoo harbor project being completed under the previous administration, work has stalled under the current government
Ayathulla highlighted that the MDP government fulfilled the 50-year aspirations of Hithadhoo residents, noting that while the people desire development and work towards the island's infrastructure, the current administration is obstructing their efforts to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Ayathullah Hussain, the MDP National Council President for the Hithaadhoo constituency, has stated that the harbor project in B. Hithaadhoo has come to a standstill following the change in administration, despite 90 percent of the work being completed under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Vaudhunaama" program, Ayathullah stated that the previous administration had undertaken numerous development projects in Hithadhoo and across the entire constituency.
Referring to Hithaadhoo, Ayathullah noted that the island's powerhouse is located in the center of the village, causing significant hardship for residents due to the resulting smoke emissions. He highlighted that Hithaadhoo also faces the most severe water contamination issues in Baa Atoll, adding that the previous administration had initiated the development of a water and sewerage system. Ayathullah further stated that by the time the government changed, 95 percent of the project had been completed, including the testing phase.
Ayathullah further stated that although 90 percent of the harbor project has been completed, work has come to a standstill following the change in government. He noted receiving information that progress has stalled because there is no fuel available for the MTCC vehicles. However, Ayathullah expressed concern that despite the halt in operations, staff recruitment continues at a significant pace.

Ayathulla highlighted that it was the MDP government that fulfilled the 50-year aspirations of the people of Hithadhoo. He stated that while the residents desire development and are working towards the island's infrastructural progress, the government is currently obstructing their efforts to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
To date, numerous administrations have significantly neglected the infrastructure development of various islands across the Maldives. A vast array of essential projects remained stalled, leading to a severe decline in local economies and the overall standard of living. However, I must highlight the initiatives launched by the MDP, particularly regarding water and sewerage systems, with Hithadhoo being a prime example. For roughly 25 years, dating back to President Maumoon’s era, people spoke of a sewerage system that never materialized. Consequently, the groundwater in Hithadhoo became heavily contaminated. I have personally experienced this issue in the past. This is not intended as a personal attack on anyone, but the reality was that Hithadhoo’s water was so polluted it would cause skin irritation while bathing. It was the MDP government that finally resolved this crisis.Ayathulla Hussain, President of the MDP National Council's Hithadhoo Constituency.
Noting that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had made numerous development pledges for the island, Ayathullah stated that none of these promises have been fulfilled to date.
He stated that these initiatives include the construction of a multipurpose hall for the island's school, the official handover of Maamaduvvari island to the local council, the further development of the health center, the establishment of a police station, as well as land reclamation and coastal protection projects.
