Faisal also defended an onslaught from Maziya's captain Asadulla Abdulla in the 21st minute, in addition to a long shot on goal by Maziya's foreign forward Cornelius Steward (Corney) as the first half drew to a close.

Maziya's Serbian forward Petar Planić secured a lead for the team in the 11th minute of the second half, scoring off of a successful corner cross. Maziya forward Corney went on to expand their lead in the 69th minute of the match with a ball that landed at the back of Valencia's net.

Valencia's coach Mohamed Athif (Aathee) said that the match had been a close one, and that Valencia had made mistakes that had eventually cost them the match. He added that a defeat by Maziya was nothing too tragic, and that Valencia still remained on a good track for the season.

With this win, Maziya remains at the top spot for the DDPL table with 18 points after having extended their lead. Valencia, who have been unable to close a victory in the last four matches they played, remain in second place with 12 points. Da Grande Sports Club are currently third in the leage with 12 points from six matches, and will advance to second place if they do not concede a victory to TC Sports Club on Thursday.
