Sunday’s matches of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL) ended in draws.

The first match between Club Green Streets and Super United Sports (SUS) ended in a goalless draw.

While both teams showed an equal performance at the start of the game, only Green Streets was able to make an attempt at scoring. However, captain Rilwan Waheed's free kick was blocked by SUS’ goalie Mirzokhid Mamatkhonov at the 19th minute.

Green Streets came back stronger for the second half, and within in 12 minutes the team’s Angel Munoz had an opportunity to score but missed the goal post. SUS got its first chance at a goal three minutes later, however, Victor Rodriguez’s attempt was stopped by Greens’ goalkeeper Haneef Saqib.

There were other goal opportunities as well throughout the rest of the game, but neither team was able to make the best use.

Speaking to the press after the match, SUS coach Ahmed Nashid said that this was their best performance thus far in the league, and expressed content in having earned a point.

Green Streets’ Ali Nisthar Mohamed said that the players had to work hard to earn the point. While he noted that team has had issues in scoring, the coach also expressed satisfaction in the players’ performances.

SUS is in third in the league table with seven points; the newcomers to the league have yet to lose a match. Green Streets who have yet to secure a win in the league is in sixth spot with two points.

Da Grande came back from a two-goal difference at the last minute of its match against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club on Sunday night.

While this is the club's first match since coach Mohamed Nizam’s resignation and subsequent appoint of a Serbian coach, assistant coach Ahmed Suzair led the players in the match that ended in a 2-2 score.

Maziya dominated the game during the first half, taking the lead at the 13th minute with a goal by defender Moosa Yameen. The club widened the lead towards the end of the half, with a successful penalty kick by forward Cornelius Stewart.

Da Grande improved their game during the second half, narrowing the lead at the 62nd minute with an impressive goal by substitute player Ahmed Ayaz.

The club was able to equalize the game during additional time, with a goal by defender Komilov Abdul Rasul.

Despite the draw, Maziya remains on top of the league table with eight points while Da Grande in fourth with five points.

While Club Valencia is to play against Club Eagles on Monday, the former now has the chance to steal the table’s top spot.
