Hope HPS wins HCC Women's Volleyball Championship title

Hope HPS has taken home the champion title during the HCC Women’s Volleyball Championship 2020.

The championship was held between women’s teams in Hinnavaru island of Lhaviyani atoll and was initiated by the island’s social center.

Hope HPS beat the team from Lhaviyani Atoll Education Center during the finals held on Friday night, at the Hinnavaru Volleyball Court. Lhaviyani Atoll Education Center lost 1-3 sets.

The winning team secured a spot in the finals after bagging 12 points in the four matches played throughout the tournament.

Lhaviyani Atoll Education Center’s team reached finals win the nine points secured in the four matches.

Player of the match was awarded to Hope HPS’s Haleema Mohamed.

Players Dunya Ali, Zameera Abdul Kareem, Haleema Mohamed from the winning team and Sajidha Adnan and Aishath Thoama Wasim from Lhaviyani Atoll Education Center as well as Aishath Yoosuf showed excellent performance throughout the championship and were selected the six best players of the championship.

Haleemath Shuha from team Scorpions’, was awarded the most hopeful player of the tournament.

Five teams participated in the championship in total; Team Alert, Lhaviyani Atoll Education Center, Scorpions, Hope HPS and Team Go-go.

At a time the island’s social center has hosted such a championship, the center has been holding a number of such tournaments within the island, the last one having been “HCC Futsal Challenge 2020” which was hosted during September.
