Malé City Council has stated that they will be monitoring if the measures implemented under the second phase of the lockdown ease plan across the Greater Malé Region are adhered to by local shops.
The city council revealed via Twitter that they are collaborating with the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to conduct visits to shops as they get ready for the second phase.
During these visits, authorities will check if stickers have been put up at the entrances and put them up if it hasn’t already been done.
The stickers will indicate the number of customers to be allowed inside at once, said the council.
Although a number of restrictions are being eased during this phase, the council has urged everyone to adhere to the protocols put in place.
As such, individuals are urged to maintain social distancing, shops are pushed to urge their customers to wear face masks and place sanitizers at their establishments.
Shop workers are also urged to follow these measures strictly.
The Ministry of Economic Development reveals that shops will be allowed to operate without a permit, from June 15 onwards, after the measures are implemented under phase two of the ease plan.
Shops that are allowed to operate have been urged to adhere to the protocols and guidelines set by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) and contact 1691 for further queries.
