RTV’s Ali Yoosuf wins Media Council Elections with astounding majority

Maldives Media Council elections
Raajje TV News Director Ali Yoosuf has won the vacant seat in the Maldives Media Council (MMC) Elections.
The Media Council seat became vacant after Mohamed Afzal Amir (Apo) from Avas Online resigned. He had resigned having left media field.
Mohamed Niyaz from Channel 13 contested against Ali Yoosuf and was defeated by 66 votes. He won only 32 votes.
A total of 109 media had registered to vote in the Elections, with 98 voting in the elections. Ali Yoosuf won 67 percent.
General elections for the 15-member Media Council was held in December. RaajjeTV, VFP, Bahuru, Sun Media, VMedia, PSM, Mihaaru and Asdhandi magazine and independent members make up the Council.
