One of the pregnant women that tested positive for Covid-19 has given birth, and the newborn has tested negative to the virus.
Dr. Nazla Rafeeq revealed this at Saturday night’s press conference at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
The woman was tested as part of random sampling after being admitted at the capital’s Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), and was transferred to Tree Top Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
While pregnant women are at a higher risk of contracting the virus, there is no evidence of transmission of the virus from mother to baby during pregnancy.
