Covid-19 monitoring measures
Monitoring status lifted from two islands in Noonu atoll
Measures lifted from Henbadhoo and Holhudhoo
They were placed on monitoring on April 25, after a captain of a boat that took 98 passengers to the north tested positive for Covid-1
Nine islands under monitoring currently

Monitoring measures placed on two islands in Noonu atoll were lifted on Wednesday.

While monitoring status has been lifted from Henbadhoo and Holhudhoo, the measures were placed on the two islands on April 25 after a captain of a boat that took 98 passengers to the north, from the capital, tested positive for Covid-19.

They are among the 13 islands that were placed under monitoring, in relation to this case.

There are currently nine islands on monitoring, they are;

  1. Capital Malé City – since April 15 (the day a community transmission was detected)
  2. Thulusdhoo, Kaafu – since April 21
  3. Narudhoo, Shaviyani – since April 25
  4. Funadhoo, Shaviyani – since April 25
  5. Milandhoo, Shaviyani – since April 25
  6. Feevah, Shaviyani – since April 25
  7. Maaungoodhoo, Shaviyani – since April 25
  8. Thakandhoo, Haa Alif – since May 1
  9. Manadhoo, Noonu – since May 1

Five of the islands currently under monitoring are connected to the ‘Amaaz’ boat captain, and Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in two. As such, there have been 11 positive cases from Narudhoo – with authorities saying that a community transmission has been detected there – as well as one case from Milandhoo.

Further, cases have been confirmed in Thulusdhoo (three), Thankadhoo (three), Manadhoo (one) and Uligan island (one) of Haa Alif atoll.
