Two additional contacts of the ‘Amaaz’ boat captain who has tested positive for Covid-19, have been identified.
Member of the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Group (TAG), Dr. Ibrahim Afzal revealed this at the daily press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) on Thursday night.
While the doctor had on Wednesday revealed that total of 118 contacts of the boat captain had been identified, he on Thursday announced that this has since increased by two.
While 36 of them are high risks, 13 have exhibited Covid-19 like symptoms.
Samples of the high-risk contacts have been taken for Covid-19 testing, and eight have tested positive; seven from Narudhoo island and one in Milandhoo island (both in Shaviyani atoll).
The 49-year-old Maldivian had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 25, after taking 98 passengers to 13 islands in the north (Shaviyani and Noonu atolls). The boat is to have left the capital on April 15, the same day a community transmission was confirmed in the city.
